Reggae Artiste Black Uhuru Biography by InfosysTV The most successful of the second-generation reggae bands, Black Uhuru maintained their high quality despite numerous personnel changes in their 40-plus-year history. The first reggae band to win a Grammy award, for their 1983 album Anthem, Black Uhuru was called "The most dynamic and progressive reggae act of the 1970s and early '80s." The band, whose name comes from the Swahili word meaning "freedom," was formed in the Waterhouse district of Kingston by Don Carlos, Rudolph "Garth" Dennis, and Derrick "Duckie" Simpson. When the group experienced difficulties securing a record contract, Spencer left to pursue a solo career and Dennis joined the Wailing Souls. Young people graduate as NIA Integrity Ambassadors

State Minister in the Ministry of National Security, Senator Pearnel Charles Jr makes a presentation to one of the ambassadors.
A number of Jamaican young people were recognised as Integrity Ambassadors by the National Integrity Action (NIA) at an award ceremony held at the UWI regional Headquarters, Mona last week.
These ambassadors, modeled on the concept developed by the NIA, are youth who have been identified as positive ‘influencers’ in their communities and schools, and seek to uphold ethical behaviour and be of high moral and leadership ability. The programme includes seven community-based organisations (Christian Pen Football Club, Kingston Central Police Youth Club, Nannyville Uprising Action Youth Club (NUAYC), Amy Jacques Parenting Group, Seaview Garden Football Club, Flanker Resource Centre, Jah Ova Evil; and five schools (Clan Carthy High, Camperdown High, Ascot High, Spot Valley High and Cornwall College).
