No country for Black men: And the Oscar goes to… Whites only! Last year's Oscars ceremony in Hollywood was engulfed in controversy over the lack of major nominations for black and minority artists. The controversy this year is even greater with a movement to boycott what are being called the 'lily white Oscars'. Does Hollywood have a problem with race? Are black and minority actors and artists in the movie industry regarded as second-class citizens, denied a seat at the table of mainstream acceptance even in 2016? This is the inference behind the  #OscarsSoWhite  Twitter campaign attacking this year's Oscars ceremony in Hollywood, which sees all twenty acting nominations being contested by white performers. This year's controversy has gained serious traction  with a campaign to boycott the ceremony being spearheaded by Jada Pinkett Smith, wife of Hollywood star Will Smith. A fish with legs? New Zealand experts to identify unknown deep sea creature An unusual sea creature that looks like a strange hybrid of frog and fish and even has some bird like resemblance at a certain angle, has washed up on New Zealand’s North Island.  The creature was found in shallow waters in the Bay of Islands by Claudia Howse, Glenys Howse and James Beuvink but didn’t survive after being caught. They contacted the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa in Wellington who are working to identify the black critter. The museum posted images on their Facebook page sparking up some online conversation on what the “walking fish” could be. Social media users’ suggestions ranged from a  “toothless dragon”  to an  “alien ”. Experts disagree and so far believe the most likely answer is a species of frogfish. Tests are underway to make a positive identification. “Frogfishes have the fastest bite of any vertebrate. Their mouths expand at the speed approaching a .22 rifle bullet - an

Head transplant doctor asks ‘billionaires like Zuckerberg’ to help give Russian man new body Italian medic Sergio Canavero has called on Russian and foreign billionaires, including Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, to finance ground-breaking head transplant surgery in Russia. Canavero made the comments while speaking to a would-be patient via video link. The Italian regularly makes the headlines for his controversial ideas on human head transplantation. He claims a successful outcome of the surgery is possible, and that recent experiments his colleagues have conducted in China and South Korea prove his point. “Risk is part of life. But risks can be contained in this kind of surgery,”   Canavero had told RT in a previous interview. Canavero was heavily criticized for his views at an annual surgeons’ meeting in Annapolis, USA, held in summer 2015. Although he spoke of the allegedly successful experiments carried out on mice by his Chinese colleague, Ren Xiaoping, the audience of
