Judge tosses life sentences of D.C. sniper Lee Boyd Malvo

Image
A federal judge has tossed out two life sentences for one of Virginia's most notorious criminals, sniper Lee Boyd Malvo, and ordered Virginia courts to hold new sentencing hearings. In his ruling issued Friday, U.S. District Judge Raymond Jackson in Norfolk, Va., said Malvo is entitled to new sentencing hearings after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that mandatory life sentences for juveniles are unconstitutional. Malvo was 17 when he was arrested in 2002 for a series of shootings that killed 10 people and wounded three over a three-week span in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, causing widespread fear throughout the region. His accomplice, John Allen Muhammad, was executed in 2009. Malvo also was sentenced to life in prison in Maryland for the murders that occurred there. But his lawyers have made an appeal on similar grounds in that state. A hearing is scheduled in June. Fairfax County Commonwealth's Atty. Ray Morrogh, who helped prosecute Malvo in 2003

Crocheted octopi comfort preemies in hospital NICU

Inside neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) incubators at one United Kingdom hospital, premature babies have an unlikely companion -- colorful, crocheted octopi. These cuddly toys are used as a form of therapy to help comfort and calm premature babies, according to officials at Poole Hospital. An estimated 15 million babies are born too early every year -- more than one in 10 babies, according to the World Health Organization. Babies born prematurely are at risk for serious health issues including breathing problems, feeding difficulties and developmental delay. With the octopi, some babies in the NICU experienced better breathing and more regular heartbeats, leading to higher levels of oxygen in their blood, hospital staff said. Mother Kat Smith holds her twins and their octopi at Poole Hospital. Mother Kat Smith holds her twins and their octopi at Poole Hospital. ATLANTA — It was Atlanta police Officer Che Milton’s first week on the job when the call came in: Head on over to the neighborhood dollar store where someone was trying to shoplift a pair of shoes. The suspect, he found out, was only 12. And the shoes she was trying to steal, a mere $2. Between tears, the girl told Milton how even a $2 pair was too much for her family to afford and that she was just trying to do something nice for her 5-year-old sister. This is where this story takes a turn, where it goes from an officer responding to a crime to his entire department banding together to help a little girl. What he saw Milton asked the girl to show him where she lived. She took him to a small house in a rough part of town. The home was bereft of furniture. Sheets lay on the floor where a bed would normally go. Her mom, balancing one child on her hip, was trying to tidy up. She told Milton theirs was a family of seven: mom, dad and five children. She explained her hus

The diss track was produced by Dakrome and Genahsyde Records. A few days ago Aidonia released an unconfirmed diss record aimed at Masicka titled “Krazy.” Despit
