Dancehall artiste Queen Kamarla Biography by InfosysTV

Reggae / Dancehall artiste Queen Kamarla has been on the upward path to success. Her life is a testament to perseverance and the power of believing in a dream. But to fully understand her, we must take a look at what made her the artiste and person she is today. Queen Kamarla A.K.A Platinum Sheriff was born Kamarla Pitter on July 9, 1983 to mother Carmen "Ms. Rose" Rainford and father Francisco Pitter. Her early years were spent in the community Portsmouth, Portmore. Because of abuse, financial difficulties and neglect, Ms. Rainford left Mr. Pitter taking Kamarla and her other two children, Stevie Rainford and Marlon Grant, with her. It was very difficult on Ms. Rose as she ended up living in Trench Town (Jungle) in the early 1990's. As a child Kamarla attended various schools and never graduated or even achieved a high school diploma. As a result of poverty she had to leave high school after grade nine. However, during those years that were spent in school she participated in various school talent shows and soon realized music was her calling. The encouragement she received from her peers was enough motivation for her to pursue her dream. Many artists spanning different genres inspired Queen Kamarla. From the greatest pop artist, Michael Jackson, to the greatest reggae artist, Bob Marley, however, the respect and adoration she has for Garnet Silk, makes her esteem him above others and as such, she holds him as her musical mentor. Kamarla got pregnant at age 15 with her first child Octavia and this lead her to take a break from the music fraternity to build her craft and to put record label together. She had to work hard to gain finance while building her style and distinctive sound in reggae music. Queen Kamarla has done recordings for the great Sugar Minott as well as Horace Andy. It is while working with these two men that she came up with the idea of forming her own label; Catalyst Entertainment Group, which signifies launch pad to greatness. After all she had nothing to lose and much to gain. Kamarla has performed on Sting 2012, Peter Tosh’s birthday celebration, Bob Marley Anniversary, Ghetto Splash, Sizzla Birthday Bash, Sun City Summer Jam and numerous main events. Since these shows she has graced the stage of many other events, including her own promotions. She has spent alot of time honing her craft & making strides in the business of music.
She has launched a number of singles since. She released "Too Young Fi Mi" and "Extension" in 2012, then released "Wah A Gwaan" in collaboration with Mikey General and "Posing Ting" in 2013, then " Kamarla recorded "Constant Struggle" with Natty King, released in 2015 along with "Come a Mi Yaad" and "Nuh Ramp Wid Mi" just to name a few. Her second child Kavon Briffiths, has also shown an interest in music recording his first single "Everybody must come together" at 9 years old but fate was almost diverted. He was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and had to be hospitalized in 2016. Queen Kamarla showed great courage throughout those troubled times and was able to get her son back to good health with the help of well-wishers and fundraising events.
