Reggae Artiste Black Uhuru Biography by InfosysTV The most successful of the second-generation reggae bands, Black Uhuru maintained their high quality despite numerous personnel changes in their 40-plus-year history. The first reggae band to win a Grammy award, for their 1983 album Anthem, Black Uhuru was called "The most dynamic and progressive reggae act of the 1970s and early '80s." The band, whose name comes from the Swahili word meaning "freedom," was formed in the Waterhouse district of Kingston by Don Carlos, Rudolph "Garth" Dennis, and Derrick "Duckie" Simpson. When the group experienced difficulties securing a record contract, Spencer left to pursue a solo career and Dennis joined the Wailing Souls. Woman sets her spouse on fire

A 36-year-old woman, who was accused of setting her spouse on fire, following claims that he was having an affair, has been charged with murder.

The woman Senita Blair of a Kingston 14 address was charged with the murder after her boyfriend Kenton Brown, a 42-year-old carpenter from St Andrew died at hospital days after he was admitted at the facility.

Reports from the Constabulary Communication Unit (CCU) are that on May 23, Blair threw a flammable substance on Brown and then set him ablaze while he was sleeping.

Brown who suffered severe burns was admitted in hospital. He succumbed to his injuries four days later.

Blair was arrested by Hunts Bay police. She has since been charged with murder.
